🇨🇭 The National Test Institute for Cybersecurity (NTC) found more than 50 security vulnerabilities, 7 of them critical, in 11 solar devices widely used in Switzerland. On almost all the inverters tested, it was even possible to cut the electricity fed into the grid to zero without authentication.
⚡ The problem takes on another dimension if an attack hits several installations at the same time. Because many of them are connected to the manufacturers’ online systems, thousands of installations could potentially be affected simultaneously. A risk to take seriously given that, on very sunny days, solar power supplies a large share of the electricity consumed in Switzerland.
